When I think of beautiful national parks, the first one that comes to mind is Rocky Mountain National Park. Nestled in the Rockies in Colorado and just a short drive from Denver, this park stretches for more than 265,000 acres and contains five distinct ecosystems—alpine tundra, subalpine forest, montane grassland and shrubland, riparian, and montane forest.
I had the pleasure of visiting the park in late September and it was nothing short of breathtaking. The Aspens were just beginning to turn a brilliant shade of yellow which set off the vibrant green coniferous trees perfectly. I experienced wildlife up close and personal, from mule deer to bighorn sheep as well as more than 280 species of birds that call this stunning landscape home.
The views of snow-capped peaks, cascading waterfalls, and expansive valleys never ceased to amaze me during my Rocky Mountain National Park mini vacation. To truly appreciate its beauty I took countless photos—some with my trusty point-and-shoot camera and some on
– I bet it’s even more magical in the winter!
